According to the itinerary, the Holy Father will arrive at Dili Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport at 2:10 pm Monday 9 September, where the first welcome will occur for the two-day visit.
During his visit to Dili, the Holy Father is scheduled to attend a welcome ceremony outside the Presidential Palace at 6:00pm, then address Timorese authorities, civil society and its diplomatic corps from 7:00pm.
On Tuesday 10 September, the Vatican said the Holy Father will visit children with disabilities at Irmas Alma school then hold private meetings with his faithful at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Apostolic Nunciature.
A Holy Mass and homily to the Holy Father, open to the public, is scheduled to start 4:30pm at the Esplanade of Taci Tolu.
Timor-Leste is the third country in Pape Francis’ busy 11-day multi country voyage that concludes 13 September.
The Vatican News reports the visit as Pope Francis’s 45th apostolic journey abroad.
Departing from Rome on 2 September, the Holy Father will first make his way to Jakarta, then Papua New Guinea from 6-9 September. From there he will fly to Dili then Singapore for the final leg of his journey, from 11-13 of September, on which day he will return home to Rome.
