“The Council of Ministers also approved the draft Law Proposal, presented by the Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, which carries out the second renewal of the exceptional and temporary health surveillance measures in response to the COVID-19 disease pandemic, extending the validity of the article 3 of Law no. 24/2021, of 19 November,” a government statement said.
“With this change, the exceptional measures are extended for a period of 120 days.”
Timor-Leste has maintained low COVID-19 cases this year, with daily infection rates stable at the single digit level bringing total number of active infections to 21, according to official health data.
Timor-Leste has fully vaccinated 73.6% of adult population and conducted 268, 125 COVID-19 tests since the start of the pandemic in 2021.
