“It is clear that one of Timor-Leste’s diplomats have been infected with coronavirus,” Jorge Camoes, the National Director of Ministry Foreign Affairs and Cooperation told media on Wednesday. “ This diplomat has been working for two years but we will not release the name or designation country to protect them.”
Camoes said the diplomat was in good health and expected to make a full recovery.
The diplomat’s infection is the first confirmed case of the virus in a Timorese citizen.
To date, Camoes confirmed that no people working in State-run labour programs in South Korea or Australia have tested positive for the virus.
