DILI: A parliamentary approved commission committee will audit state-funded projects across Timor-Leste before any payments are made, following a unanimous vote to implement the new system by the Council of Ministers on Wednesday.

The new political review committee will verify all 2019 budget allocations listed in the State budget proposal set for submission to National Parliament on 8 November 2018.

Maria Angelica Lopes, the Deputy Chairperson of the National Parliament, said the make-up of the 11-person commission would be based on parliamentary seat majority.

This would include Fretilin 4 seats, National Congress for Timorese Reconstruction (CNRT) 3 seats, People’s Liberation Party 2 seats and the Khunto party two seats.

The one-seat parties of United Party for Development and Democracy (PUDD), the Timorese Democratic Union (UDT), and Frenti-Mudança, would not be represented, Lopes said
