COVID-19 Compensation Promised to Frontline Workers Featured

DILI:Hundreds of frontline workers may receive monetary compensation for their work supporting the nation’s COVID-19 pandemic response, as health officials start looking at the budget to pay workers.

Some 300 health and support-staff will be entitled to the payment, the exact figure “undecided”,  Dr Odete da Silva, spokesperson for the Integrated Crisis Centre told reporters on Friday.

" I promises to all front line people that you will receive your salary and subsidy ,” Dr Silva said.

Frontline staff includes people working in government quarantine, laboratory and health facilities.

As of Friday, Timor-Leste’s registered active COVID-19 cases remain at 24 with no deaths.
