Evanjelina da Silva and Olímpia da Silva disappeared Sunday while crossing the flooded river in Uagia Village, Ossu, in Viqueque. One body, not yet identified, has been found.

Henrique da Costa, Sub Inspector of Timor-Leste National Police, welcomed the involvement of defence force’s navy officers, saying difficulty seeing in the dirty and deep floodwater had slowed search progress.

“The navy force has been with us in Ossu since Sunday and we still search for the flood victim.”
