Applications can be submitted and up and until 11:59 (EST) to be considered in this year’s selection process.
The embassy’s statement, published broadly in local media did not say when successful candidates would be contacted. But the eligibility requirements remain the same as previous years.
For example, its said USTL is a merit-based, open competition.
“Candidates will be considered without respect to race, colour, religion, national origin, or gender; persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply,” the statement said.
The program provides full scholarships to outstanding students from Timor-Leste for two to four years of study at undergraduate institutions in the United States.
Eligible candidates must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident qualified to hold a valid passport issued by the government of Timor-Leste.
They must have completed or are in in the process of completing their final year of secondary school, be proficient in spoken and written English, may be enrolled in an undergraduate study, and be at least 18 years old when the program starts.
