Timor-Leste and Vietnam Agree to Visa-Free Entry for Diplomat and Service Passport Holders Featured

DILI: Timor-Leste and Vietnam will grant visa-free entry for citizens with diplomatic and service passports, an important step forward in strengthening ties between the southeast Asian countrie, a Council of Ministers statement said on Wednesday.

The agreement was the culmination of a presentation by the Vice Minister for Association Southeast Asian Network (ASEAN) Affairs Milena Maria da Cosa Rangels to the Council of Ministers as part of provisions of the ASEAN Tourism Agreement and Timor-Leste’s accession roadmap to become the 11th member of ASEAN.

“The aforementioned agreement aims to strengthen friendly relations between the two countries and facilitate the travel of their citizens for tourist purposes,” the statement said.

Details about when the visa-free entry will start were not provided.
