The new rule covers clients from Timor Telecom, Telemor and Telcomcell.
“For those who do not register their mobile card we will block them,” João Olívio Freitas said.
Freitas said the regulation was to cut out the rise of counterfeit and faulty SIMs circulating in Timor-Leste.
Telecom users will need identification to register their SIM cards at corresponding telecommunications outlet. People can use their student card, electoral car, Passport or baptism certificate as identification.
