“We know the new generation has a capacity to govern but they also need experience on how to lead the government and must hold strong nationalism,’’ Lere said Sunday.
The comments came as final makeup of Timor-Leste’s new parliament continues to be discussed.
On Sunday Fretilin’s leader, Mari Alkatiri announced on Facebook his party would not lead the country based on old “status quo”.
“The new government will not just to come to make us happy, the new government is coming to improve Timor-Leste ‘s development, clean the corruption, nepotism and Collusion and will not maintain the status of quo,’’ he said
Fretilin and the CongressoNacional de Reconstrução de Timor (CNRT) – took the majority of Saturday’s vote, with 29.65percent and 29.45 per cent respectively.
With no party having a majority of 33 seats, a unity government is expected to be announced this week.
