DILI: Timor-Leste’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said on Thursday that rights have been given to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to manage the country’s coronavirus medicine and equipment purchases.

"We will work together with UNDP,” Deonisio Babo Soares told reporters. “UNDP is a respected international organisation that delivers good quality work across the world."

Soares said the government wanted to avoid fake coronavirus-related products that had entered the global market.

On 20 March, the European Union opened an investigation into fake coronavirus products, Reuters reported.

Products seized include medical devices, test kits, sanitisers and masks.
