Timor-Leste’s Minister of Education Dulce de Jesus said allowing children to return to the classroom was a priority, but stressed online learning would continue until a date was approved when to open schools again.
The spread of the coronavirus has showed signs of slowing in Timor-Leste, with no new registered infections for almost four weeks.
Timor-Leste’s state of emergency is set to expire May 31.
The emergency decree includes restrictions on movement, closures of the border and bans on gatherings of multiple people that extends to schools and religious gatherings.
