The jornal“INDEPENDENTE” was established in Dili on 4 April 2011 at a building in central Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste.
INDEPENDENTE Journal’s vision is to develop and strengthen media professionalism through independent journalism.
As a media institution, INDEPENDENTE Journal intends to serve as an example of journalism that educates, informs and entertains the public, never deviating from it journalistic ethics.
It will defend human rights as an important pillar of democratic social life.
Freedom of expression is guaranteed in article40 and 41of the Timorese Constitution, therefor, the INDEPENDENTE Journal as part of society will serve as a fully responsible point for freedom of expression through a publication that is professional, balanced and without bias individual or particular group interests and always putting public interest first.
To ensure the above points, all components of the INDEPENDENTE Journal will adhere to the Constituion and internal regulations established by the founders to guide all the journalists working within the organization.
All components of the Journal, in particular journalists must “put the dignity of the Journal above all else, respect each other, be professional in their work, ensure the interest of the public and obey the rule of law.
